Fold-Over Sling Bag – Zulu

Our Fold-Over Sling Bag - Zulu made from a 100% South African Cow Leather has a multi colour tribal design woven fabric on the back which folds over the front top half of the bag. The interior of this Sling Bag also lined with an original South African Shweshwe fabric for strength and style. The Fold-Over Sling Bag - Zulu was designed to limit theft and therefor has a durable metal zip and antique brass snap hook to secure all your personal belongings. The fold over and lock design helps to prevent someone digging through your bag. As well as another zip pocket at the back for smaller items. As a matter of fact all NAVA Apparel bags are handmade by local South African craftswomen.

Artist Inspiration: The Zulu Collection designed to represent the Zulu people of South Africa. Zulu people are native people of Southern Africa, also originating from Nguni communities who took part in the Bantu migrations over millennia. The Zulu people are certainly the largest ethnic group in South Africa, mainly living in KwaZulu-Natal province. Our Zulu Collection made for the strong, as the Zulu people are resilient warriors.

Shweshwe a printed cotton fabric widely used for traditional South African clothing. Manufactured in a variety of colours and printing designs characterised by intricate geometric patterns. Shweshwe described as the denim of South Africa. Traditionally used to make dresses, skirts, aprons and wraparound clothing. Shweshwe clothing traditionally worn by newly married Xhosa and Sotho women, known as makoti. Xhosa women also incorporated the fabric into their traditional ochre-coloured blanket clothing. Aside from traditional wear, shweshwe used in contemporary South African fashion design for women and men from all ethnic groups, as well as for making accessories and upholstery.
