OUR STORY

Welcome to Nava Apparel
Who are we and what are we aiming to do?

Let me explain.

Our Story started as the brainchild of Alwyn du Preez while he was travelling around the world with his modelling career. Realising the lack of quality shoes being sold all over the globe due to mass production and consumerism. So he started drawing and researching the components required for creating a quality product. While living in Germany and waiting around for modelling jobs, he designing his own style of boot, now known as the Warrior Boot. When back in Cape Town, Alwyn approached a local shoe maker who helped him bring his first pair of quality Warrior Boots to life. A Boot that would last much longer, can be repaired and maintained rather than thrown away.

Quality with a touch of difference from the norm.

After designing, producing and wearing the first pair of Warrior Boots, he got a few people’s attention. People loved them so much, that he sold them straight off his feet. One day he woke up, tired of the modelling industry / lifestyle and decided to relocate back to Cape Town to follow his passion for design. Creating quality products in South Africa using locally sourced materials and labour, thereby also creating more jobs in return.

During a lot of brainstorming the word “NAVA” came up.

NAVA meaning beautiful as a girls name.

This is something that stuck with Alwyn because this is where he realised that everyone is beautiful and unique in their own way.

Thereby we are all NAVA

Beautiful products that would have less impact on the environment. Hence we always strive to repair our shoes when needed, to maintain our products and recycle old soles once replaced, rather than throwing the whole shoe away.
