What is Flannel fabric?
Flannel is a soft, warm woven fabric, typically made from cotton, wool, or synthetic fibers, know for it's brushed fuzzy texture. It's primarily used to make cold-weather apparel like button-down shirts, pajamas, and cozy bedsheets. The fuzzy feel is achieved by a manufacturing process called "brushing," where fine metal brushes raise the fibers of the spun yarns. This traps heat, making it an excellent insulator while remaining breathable. Cotton flannel shirts (often in plaid or check patterns) are a casual wardrobe staple, while thicker woolen flannels are used for heavy coats, suits, and trousers.
