Our Handbag Leather - Black made from a 100% South African Cow Leather. We use a premium quality leather with a wax coated finish to make this bag. This wax coated leather helps to repel water drops off the leather, hence making it more water resistant.

We also use South African Shweshwe fabric to line the interior of our Handbags for strength and style. This Handbag Leather - Black comes with a durable metal zip at the top for the purpose of securing all your personal belongings inside. As well as another zip pocket inside for smaller items. All NAVA Apparel bags are handmade by South African craftswomen.

When you buy one of our Bags you also support our women's workshop in Cape Town. All women work for themselves and get paid per item. We operate as a fair-trade business and create more jobs in South Africa. Giving women an opportunity to empower themselves by operating their own little business within our business. Shweshwe a printed cotton fabric widely used for traditional South African clothing. The fabric manufactured in a variety of colours and printing designs characterised by intricate geometric patterns. Shweshwe described as the denim of South Africa. This fabric traditionally used to make dresses, skirts, aprons and wraparound clothing. Shweshwe clothing traditionally worn by newly married Xhosa women, known as makoti, and married Sotho women. Xhosa women also incorporated the fabric into their traditional ochre-coloured blanket clothing. Aside from traditional wear, shweshwe used in contemporary South African fashion design for women and men from all ethnic groups, as well as for making accessories and upholstery.
